I got a shop manual from a buddy on PDF not sure if it is like the one you are referring to but I am using that as well as my Haynes manual to diagnose this as much as possible.

At pahonda, my accord is a 5spd manual.

shop manual is better, check each component to see if it's okay so you can narrow down the problem. use it to figure out what that noise is.

Please read previous posts before posting, some questions or suggestions have already been discussed.

I did an experiment last night, I timed how long it took for the MIL light to go out after I turned the key to the 'ON' (II) position.
1st time 3 mintues
2nd time 50 seconds
3,4,5 times 7 seconds fuel pump primed twice

I disconnected and reconnected the battery to reset anything in the ECM
1st time 18 seconds fuel pump primed twice
2nd time 4 seconds fuel pump primed the whole time
3rd time 7 seconds fuel pump primed twice
4th time 4 seconds fuel pump primed the whole time

These times are my reaction with a stop watch.

Well, I'm not going to re-read eveything....I will say it would be nice to add yourcar info to you signature so we don't have to guess,

Somewhere in those "past" posts I think is a suggestion to test the "inputs" to the relay.

At this point as I read this...the car will not start until the CEL goes off.......so I would be worried about the "inputs" to the main relay.

All the inputs to the main relay were good. The resistor block for the fuel injectors was getting power from the yellow/black wire. The resistance in the block checked good.

I'm thinking the ECM has gone bad due to its erratic behavior.

Got the new ECM in today, and that did the trick! Car starts immediately. Just a bad ECM!

Thanks for all the help.
