Default 95 Rear main seal oil leak, few questions

Hi, have a 95 Accord EX I4 2.2 liter V-tech with a rear main seal oil leak, it has 180,700 miles on the original transmission. If the rear main seal is not replaced till the transmission goes bad and that may be 220,000 miles or longer, will it have any detrimental effects on anything? It is seven hundred to get fixed, find it hard to justify unless it is really going to screw something up, plan to keep this car five or more years. I religiously take care of this car because I want it to start and last for a long time but that is so much money, does it need to be done or can it wait till the transmission goes out??

it all depends how much oil it is leaking..........I have seen some leaky rear main seals that leave a trace of oil from frt to rear of car ,, the whole under vehicle is oil soaked ..in that case it needs replacing.. if it leaks a little bit just chk the oil level and add accordingly

it is your call.. just make sure that you keep oil level full

If you have an automatic you will not harm the trans on a manual it could get on the flywheel and clutch.
