96 accord 2.2l non vtech automatic Ac Issues
I have a 96 accord that's giving me hell. At first the ac just stopped blowing cold so I thought it was recharge time. Went out and bought one of those AutoZone systems that charged thru the low side. Cool air for 24 hours then a hissing sound and no cool air. I recharged again with dye this time. Bottom of the compressor leaked. Replaced compressor bought 134a gauges and a vaccume pump. Was not able to get -10 psi only -5 psi was told by AutoZone -5psi was ok. So I charged system 23 oz of Freon and 5.5 oz compressor oil. Now I have 50 psi on low side and 10psi on high side . Filled system at night 70 degrees 50 percent humidity and if my calculation is correct i should have about 175 psi on high and 45psi on low side. This is the first time I've messed with ac I thought I could reduce th 1300 dollar quote I got for repairs I'm now 450 dollars in and stumped as to what the problem is any help would be greatly appericated. Thank you for your support in this matter.

If when you vacuumed, you were only able to get to 5 in hg vacuum, there is either a leak or your gauges are miscalibrated. Were they pointing to zero on low side gauge before starting? A good vacuum will bring low side gauge to ~30 in hg on gauge (~-15 psi).
Suggest purchasing the Haynes Auto AC manual and do a bit of reading about how to use the gauges. Were valves closed or open when you tried to read pressures? They should be both closed.
A new receiver/drier is necessary when system is opened.
Evaporator leaks are highly likely in an Accord of this age and require evaporator housing removal and replacement of all orings on expansion valve and thermal feedback bulb.
AC requires rebuilding to return to good performance.
good luck
