Default 96 Accord hesitation in 4th

Hey guys,
Im experiencig a little bit of a hesitation in fourth gear, in the 2500 rpm range. It almost feels to me like the ecu is confused whether to shift into OD or not. It is the automatic 2.2 VTEC. Not really sure whether to be worried or not. Any suggestions?

I will say there is a slight fluid leak in the tranny, due to the cv axle being replaced in thebcar just before Ingot it, and the seal subsequently going bad in the process. But it is very slow.

Watch rpm. If rpm is hunting about 100-150 rpm, then lockup may be engaging/disengaging.

Another possibility is EGR lean-induced miss due to partially blocked EGR ports. This can cause a hesitation feeling when acceleration is commanded.

Some AT codes can occur w/o D4 light flashing. I would check for obd1 codes stored in TCU. This may provide a clue.

Otherwise, not much to do except change the ATF w/ new Honda ATF and hope for the best.

good luck
