hello I have a 96 accord v-tec that im having a starting problem... When i go to crank the car the fuel pump will not come on... I have changed the ign switch and the fuel pump relay... the car will turn over however the fuel pump will not come on.. The thing is though if i leave the car switched in the on position for abt 10 minutes or so the fuel pump will come on, the relay will click and it will start. Idk if all the accords this model do this but, when the fuel pump does come on a green box will light up around the D4 on the instrument cluster. also before the pump comes on and that light comes on I can move the gear shifter between the gears without pressing the brake... once the pump comes on i have to press the brake. so any info would be greatly appreicated

 

have you checked the MAIN relay? common problem on these accords.

 

no i have not where is the main relay and exactly how would i test it?

 

The main relay is the fuel pump relay. The main relay is on the passenger side of the steering column. It has 7 wires going to it. Is this the relay you replaced?

When you turn the key to the II position and do not try to start the car, does the check engine light turn on for about two seconds for a bulb check?

 

Yeah one does what's his is doing won't start did a whole tune up my check engine light comes on for. Few secs and then turns off

 

the check engine light stays on so i couldnt tell u that lol. all the instrument lights come on though, and yes that is the relay that i replaced

 

also are the anti theft or security systems on these cars?

 

They don't come stock on the car, but you should look for an aftermarket security system. Look under the dash near the steering column for a control unit and wiring that looks out of place. The stock wiring harness is pretty organized.

 

ok then thats not it either... so its not the fuel pump relay, ign switch, security system. any other ideas? because im at the point of full coverage and a deer

 

I guess no one else has any suggestions?
