'96 Overheating???
Havent had a problem with it in the past, but after replacing the VSS - removed the intake and I think a hose to the thermostat because when I took it off, antifreeze came out).
I hooked the hose back up and filled the car back up with antifreeze. Now, after driving for about 15 minutes, the temp gauge shoots up showing the car is overheating and the fan stays on several minutes after the car is turned off and parked.
Other then a bad thermostat, is there any other thing that I should look at?
Car is a 96 Accord 2.2 Vtec. CEL is on and has been for a few weeks. THat's some of the problems I'm trying to work out now. I haven't gotten the CEL read since this problem started, but am getting ready to run to Autozone to have them read it.
Oil is full - dirty and being replaced tomorrow, but full none the less.

Make sure you get the air out of the cooling system. I have never had a problem with air in the cooling system but many have. Look up "bleeding coolant system" or something like that.
When I am filling my radiator I always run it without the radiator cap(engine cold) until the thermostat opens, then I make sure its full and put the cap back on. Dont wait to long though or coolant will start coming out and could burn you and run the car hot.
And dont let it run hot whatever you do, or you will destroy the engine!!

I think the problem is fixed. Rode it to work today and ran it in the garage for 25 minutes and the gauge never got above halfway. Now inthe fix all the leaks this beast is having and the stutter problem when driving 55-60mph
