Default 97 accord motor swap questions

What's up guys so my 97 honda accord special edition took a **** yesterday. Sounded like it threw a rod or something idk it sounded horrible tho. I knew it was on it's last leg but it caught me by surprise. Which leads me to my dilemma. I can't afford a whole new car so I am thinking to just swap motors. I'm asking for details on what all kinds of engines it will accept and how much extra **** would it require. I've been finding good prices on k23A but I believe it requires some fabrication to make work. H22a is too expensive. D16 kinda lame lol. B18 may work if I can find one for a decent price. Will all these motors go into this chassis? Any advice or also any links to some good buys would be appreciated. Thanks for yall help.

For enough money any of those engines you've listed can be made to work, however, swapping the engine with the same engine model and release level is the only way to assure the least expensive and most reliable installation. If I recall correctly, your car came from the factory with the well regarded F22B1 engine, and it would be my personal recommendation you go that route unless you want to spend several thousand dollars on the conversion.

Yeah it crossed my mind to just put a younger f22b in it. Part of me just wanted to beef it up but truth be told I'd be happy for it to just have a new engine period. Thanks for the honesty man

Keep us posted on your progress of finding a new engine and dropping it in.

A good resource to use for your engine search is car-part.com

Edit: I just checked in my area and see lots of engines with 120,000 miles or less available in the $1,200 to $1,600 range; some of the engines have less than 70,000 miles on them (hard to believe given how old these engines are)!

For compatibility sake, is your car an LX or EX? 1997 had VTEC and non-VTEC engines, so if you want the least hassle you would match what you originally had.
