Default 97 accord no start

Hi Everyone,

I'm having problems with my 97 accord and am hoping you can help. What happened was one day I went out to my car to start it up and nothing happened. I heard the ding sound that happens when a key is in the ignition and the door is open, saw the lights around the key cylinder and that was all. No radio, no dash lights, no clicking or any noises at all beyond that. I checked the battery, starter, key ignition switch and wiring and all are working properly. I've tried starting in neutral and no luck. Any other suggestions? The guys at O'reilly were puzzled and said to check the wiring back and see if there was a short, I can do that but was wondering if there were any other options out there?

Thanks!

But, check the fuses, e.g., main battery fuse, etc., battery connections, ground wires, etc.

In the attached pics:

  • Check these engine grounds to see that they are tight and wiring okay. You may even want to remove them and clean the surfaces with some sandpaper, etc.
  • For the under hood fuses, check the main battery fuse, other highlighted fuse, etc.
  • For the interior fuse, check the yellow highlighted fuse. The fuse box should have spare fuses as indicated (the green highlighted fuse is a spare 7.5A fuse) you can use. You can also check the starter fuse (not highlighted).

Thanks for the quick response, and sorry about my delayed reply. I went ahead and double checked the connections and everything and it started up. There was a little corrosion on the battery that was probably not helping the problem either!

Thanks for your help!
