Red face 97 Accord SE Oil Leak

Good day all,

My 97 Accord (4 cylinder non v-tech) now has 192K miles on it, runs really good but it seems I have a new oil leak, and trying to identify.

Oil seems to be leaking on the passengers side now, with a spot about 6 inches away from the front tire under the engine. I got under the vehicle and in that area there is a oil soaked crossbar, but I could not see exactly where the leak is. I also checked the top distributor seal area and that appears clean.

Just looking for some common trouble spots or specific areas to focus in on.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Got any pic's?

Still going to be a bit hard to figure it out from my chair in my den

Clean the area by and under the dist to be sure - the dist o-ring and or the vc gasket do leak and then drip down - and back with the air pushing it as you drive.

If it is more to the back side of the engine....the oil pressure switch or a bad seal on the filter could be in play.

Last, I'll assume you have confirmed this is engine oil and not trans fluid (auto is more red trans fluid - manual trans is oil)

Yeah I agree, a few pics would sure help. I'll try to get a few together and post for easier identification.

It's oil for sure, and not leaking near the back of the engine but on the passengers side.

Took a look at the oil filter and oil pressure switch, they both look ok.
