I have a 97 accord, my front left tire blew out and took the rubber shield above the tire with it. My dash/tail lights went out the next day. I replaced all the 15A fuses since I had extra and everything was fine, but they went out again later and i swapped the 15A fuses around a bit and they probably all popped.

Now the engine chugs but doesnt start up. Tried a jump for kicks and same thing. There are wires exposed near the tire since the tire blew, so im assuming they may be damaged/shorting/not grounded right now.

Any thoughts? I had to leave my car but tmrw im going to put new 15A fuses, im guessing itll work but theyll keep going bad until i figure out the real problem.

Why are you replacing all your fuses with 15A's???

You need to repair the damaged wires first and then put all the correct rated fuses back in where they go.

 

Sorry I should've been more clear, I replaced all the fuses that use 15A with new 15A fuses, not literally every fuse. Sure enough a couple of them seem to pop, namely the one that goes to my dash/tail lights (which are on the same fuse.) Everything is working again except that fuse keeps popping.

From my research on this forum, I'm almost positive it's either from the switch that turns the brights on, or something is happening to the wires going to the back and it's popping the fuse.

 

Being that the tire blew and took out the wheel well, I'm with crispin. Check the wire harness that runs above that for damage.

 

Thanks I'm going to have my friend's shop take a look then but yeah sounds about right.
