Default 94 accord wont shift to gear / out tail lights

Hey guys new to the forum here,

I have a 94 accord 5 speed, I started my car up this morning and it won't shift into any gear at all. My roommate also noticed my tail brake lights were both out.

From what I've read in the chilton manual I'm thinking it could be the brake light switch?

Any ideas?

Failure to shift (you can access the gate but trans won't engage) is usually result of clutch hydraulics (master or slave cylinders). Fluid leaks away and clutch is not released when you press the clutch.

Brake lights could be a failed brake light switch. Check that switch is springing open when brake is pressed.

good luck

Thanks for the reply, I recently had the master cylinder replaced, and ill check the brake switch to make sure its engaging, but any other ideas why it might not go into gear at all?

He was talking about the Clutch Master not the brake master.

Check the fluid level on the Clutch master

What are symptoms? Does shift feel like clutch is not pressed or you can't reach any gates?

Clutch is most likely. Investigate this before worrying about more exotic.

good luck

Checked the fluid level and it seems to be fine, The shifter just will not move into any gear at all like its locked in neutral for some reason

Open the hood and see if the clutch slave cylinder moves when the clutch is pressed. Slave cylinder is on front side of engine on pax side.

good luck
