Default 97 TRANNY

k got a 97 automatic w/the 2.2 when i put her in drive about 5 mins down the road the gear indicator starts flashing and it starts to slip alittle.changed the fluid but mno change.notice a lot of gunc on the drain plug bolt.didnt change the filter.so my question. most likely problem?

A flashing gear indicator is like a check-engine light for the tranny.

Jumper the SCS connector as if you're going to read the error codes from the check-engine light. But your gear indicator lamp will flash the code instead (or along with) the CEL.

BTW, there's no tranny filter for you to change. There's a screen but you have to dismantle the tranny.

Good luck. It sounds like it could be bad news for your tranny.
