Default 98 Accord alarm keeps going off after replacing battery

Daughter is at college and her battery died. AAA came and replaced her battery but the alarm kept going off and they could not start the car. She does not have a remote and I believe it is a stock alarm system. It was late at night, so he towed the car to her apartment and disconnected the battery. I am hoping that the alarm can be reset somehow and this is not a more serious issue. Is there a procedure to reset the alarm.

I'm sure there is a procedure to reset the alarm, but I don't know it. That information may be in her owner's manual.

I used to have a 98 but don't remember anything about "resetting" the factory alarm. Had the battery out a few times & never had to do anything special when I put it back in. (Only the radio anti-theft code)

Did you sort this out ??

Please let me know because I have exactly the same problem and currently cannot use my car.

Thanks,

Jez

We figured out it was an aftermarket alarm system but did not know what brand. She had a friend disable the sound alarm and got the car to start but the lights kept flashing when she drove it and she had to unhook the battery every time she left the car. I talked to a repair shop about it and they disabled it for $75. It would have been more if the alarm was tied into the started and they would have had to solder wires.
