'98 Accord cuts off while driving (ignition switch?)
Vehicle info:
My Accord often cuts off while driving but will start up right away. After searching for answers around the 'net I've concluded it's the ignition switch. There was a recall on this and my problem seems to be the same but I was told by Honda that my vehicle wasn't included because it came from a different factory.
The Honda dealer wants around $275 for this and I found another place that will do it for $195. Looking around at online stores I see I can get the part I believe I need for around $40-60 and I know a mechanic who does pretty cheap side work and I think I can probably get the whole thing done for under $100 this way.
My concern is the exact part(s) I need. I called Bernardi parts and gave my VIN and was told the part # was 35130-S84-A01 (switch, steering). I'm seeing that there is also part #35130-S84-305 (switch, electrical) which is for a '98 Accord but doesn't seem to be associated with my VIN. The "steering" vs "electrical" is throwing me off some.
To make things a little more confusing for me, a google search reveals this:
Of course my car wasn't actually recalled but as I said it seems to be the same problem.
Which part should I get? Anything else I also might need?
Appreciate any help. Thank you.

Product Note: For vehicles subject to ignition switch Safety Recall Bulletin #02-031 (issued on 9/24/02). Some (but not all) 1998-99 Accord models were recalled for replacement of the ignition switch. Models that have had the ignition switch replaced under this recall should use this switch (35130-S84-305) instead of the original (35130-S84-A01) switch. Please contact your local Honda dealer if unsure whether or not your vehicle is included with those that were recalled under SRB #02-031.

On the Honda parts listing for the 1998 Accord EX coupe, it only shows 35130-S84-A01. The Honda technical service bulletin for cars under the recall states to use 35130-S84-305 to replace the failed part (35130-S84-A01), it doesn't appear Honda shows 35130-S84-305 as the general replacement part in all cases. If a part was meant to be superseded, sites like Bernardi Honda Parts would list the new part number and show the old superseded part number.
I don't believe any other replacement part is needed other than the switch. Here is a copy of the TSB that you probably already saw:

I would go with 35130-S84-A01. Are you going to order from Bernardi?

I just did mine last night, 99 EX, I took me less than a half hour and I am not a pro. Simply remove to trim around the steering wheel, 3 phillips screws and the lower drivers side kick panel, two phillips screws, locate the switch on the extreme left side of the column, a white doughnut thing with big wires soldered to it. Remove two little phillips screws that hold it to the column, unplug the brown jack from the main panel and thats it.
I just got one for $49.00 at Autozone

And yes, I suppose I'll go ahead and order from Bernardi as they are fairly close by and I'll like to have the part by this weekend. Why do you ask?
