98 accord automatic downshifts hard when coming to a stop, from 2nd to low gear? 75k miles tranny never flushed. upshifts great

My 2000 is doing the same thing! I have the 4 cyl with 165k. When mine does shift from 2nd to 1st at a stop there is a second shudder, or lurching 1-2 seconds after a complete stop too...

 

The 6th gen (98-02) auto tranny is infamous for hard shifting and slipping while it's on it's way out the door. You can try draining and refilling the tranny with fresh Honda ATF-Z1 and see if it smooths things out. It's just like an oil change.
