I would not replace oil pump before inspecting oil suction inlet for clogging. Note, a positive confirmation of clogged suction inlet would indicate poor maintenance history.

Regarding oil consumption, my experience is these cars leak more oil than they burn, but I've had none w/ poor maintenance history.

My mechanic is going to drop the pan and see if it is clogged. If not I am likely going forth with the oil pump replacement. Basically I am not in a spot financially where I can run out and get a new ride. I am hoping for a clogged screen but if not then I see the pump replacement as the best option. Hoping my honda will give me another 2-3 years after that.
