My 99 Accord EX has been experiencing a very strange electrical problem that has stumped my mechanic w/ 30 years experience. My radio, Tac and speedometer periodical cut out for about a second. When this happens my ABS light come on also come on but later goes out. Then when I park and turn off the car, I often lose ALL power for a minute or before it returns. But when it returns I do not have to reset the radio. It seems to happen after the car is been driven about 20 miles and is good and warm. We replaced the ignition switch but the problem remains.

 

Check that all ends of both battery cables have a clean and secure connection. With the battery connected, clean any corrosion on the eyelets/bolts with a wire brush, then tighten them back down.

 

Thanks but all battery cables and connections are clean and secure. Mine and the rest o the local Honda mechanics say it has the symptoms of a bad transmission switch. We replaced it but the problem persists.
