'99 Accord not starting after battery cable replacement
#22
Slightly confused. The new Duralast brand starter from Autozone is $80, the used OEM Honda/Nippodenso (out of an Accord with 60K miles) is $100 and the remanufactured OEM starter from the Honda dealership is $168. My car has 231,000 miles, so it's not going to last forever, it's just that I've had bad luck putting generic parts into Hondas in the past. Although the Duralast starter does have a limited lifetime warranty. I realize there's no "right" answer, just trying to think out which would be a better investment (e.g. will I have to replace the Duralast or used starter anytime soon). Thanks.

You should be able to find a used starter on ebay or car-part.com for < $50. A price difference of 3:1 gets my attention.
However this is your decision to make. You don't need our opinions.
good luck
