ac question
My wife said that our 2002 Honda Accord ac was acting strange, she said that the ac felt cooler as long as she was moving, when she got in traffic and was idle it did not seem to cool. I think it just may need a recharge of refrigerant, it has never had a recharge before. Any suggestions welcome.
Open hood and turn AC on. You may find that one or both of the cooling fans is not working. This will cause low cooling at slow/stopped conditions.
Report what you find for further help.
If it cools OK at speed, charging is not the solution.
good luck

I just got this 97 special edition and it is nice. the air does not work sometimes when you put it on. if you hit under the dash on the passenger side the air will blow hard and cool no problem. any ideas on how to fix? i used to have a 94 accord LX but i did not get into it too much i never had time to do anything myself.
This should be an easy fix. Thumping the dash reseats the heater blower brushes and causes the motor to start.
You need a new blower motor. Three screws under the dash, 2-easy and 1-hard to reach. I found a flexible extension allowed phillips head screw driver bit to reach the difficult screw.
I think that's your only problem, if it cools good when blower runs.
Check rockauto, ebay and amazon for a good deal on blower motor.

You likely need a new blower motor. Follow TexasHonda's instructions.
The OEM blower requires no modification to wire it up. You also don't have to transfer the plastic fan blades from your original blower. The aftermarket blower requires some splicing as well. Passenger's feet would hit the wiring, and I had to keep repairing. I removed the aftermarket one and bought a Honda blower and had no problems after that. The OEM online parts suppliers have the blower for $85, while the MSRP (dealership price) is $116.
