Default Acceleration Problem...

Hey guys, I have a Honda Accord 1997, Lately Ive had this problem with my car. Every morning when i start up the car and i try to accelerate It struggles to actually accelerate, It makes like clicking noises then it goes normal and i can accelerate it only happens for a couple of seconds, then it goes back to normal and only when the car has been off for numerous hours.

Thanks,
Zaid

I would start w/ checking the spark plug wires and distributor cap for spark leaks. Spray fine mist of water over wires and distributor cap at night when engine is cold. Any sparks jumping around indicates wires and/or distributor cap should be replaced.

The Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) might stick open, close, etc and cause some clicking. Clean IACV, throttle plate, and throttle body bore around the plate w/ throttle body cleaner.

good luck
