Accord 1998 EX V6 - Bypass A/C compressor..???
The title says it all: can you bypass the A/C compressor pulley on the V6..?
I've owned this 1998 Honda Accord Ex V6 for about 2 years now, the A/C slowly loosing effectiveness (I think)... I did a 2-3 hour drive the other day, and even though turning the A/C on didn't seem to cool at all, I left it on, hoping to get 1 or 2 degree cooler... Now I have this loud noise coming from behind/under the engine.
I took it to Honda dealer, they said it was the A/C clutch assembly: 1000$. After replacing this part, they said they would then know if compressor needs replacing as well: another 1000$. I took it to another garage, where they could replace everything (non-Honda parts) for under 1000$.
But that's still way more than I can afford right now, and a lot more that what I want to spend on what has been an horrible car for me...
So I did some research and found those pulleys that bypass the compressor, but I only find them for the 4cyl. models, like this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GJ3JLW/...SIN=B000GJ3JLW
Hope you can help me...
