Default 99 accord coolant bypass

Hey guys,

I have a 99 Accord and little problems are popping up here and there so I figured Id find a good place to talk tech.

Most recently, like just a few hours ago. What Ive narrowed down to as the bypass tube under the manifold broke off (corrosion) and was just dumping water and overheating pretty quick. I was out of town and needed a quick fix, so I clamped off the tube and plugged the manifold side. Seems to be holding as it got me home with no problems.
My question is, having done this, am I creating any serious issues? I plan on getting it fixed asap. I just don't want to damage anything else in the next couple of days.

Thank You

Doug

You're not talking about the big pipe coming out from the back of the water pump right ?

Its 1/2" rubber tubing that comes out of the thermostat cover and into a fitting at the bottom of the air intake (this is the fitting that is broken off). Some minor research said that this is a/the bypass.

I believe that hose is use for heating the intake air on cold days but is not essential.

Some more research turned up an upgrade of some sort bypassing this. This is a pic. The connection Im talking about is B. Its broken off, and I just plugged both sides to keep the coolant from dumping out.
