Default accord 2001 fan resistor

Hi,

I have an accord 2001 and last week my AC fan made a lound noise ( it was about to blow up) but was working fine on every position . I have changed the fan and when I've put back the ignition ON after putting the new one the fan only worked on position 4 (the fan ****) . I even unpluged my new fan and pluged back my old one just to make sure the problem is not the new fan but no, the old fan was doing the samething. I decided to change my fan resistor (transistor) turned the ignition back on check it out and no luck . So now I'm stuck with a fan that is not working on postion of the **** (1,2,3) The only posisiton working is 4 , and its really blowing strong like it should

Does anyone have a clue what my problem could be ?
Any suggestion ?

Thank You

Jay .

You may have gotten a faulty replacement blower motor resistor.

The blower motor circuit at the highest setting bypasses the resistor; so, the motor run fast at full load. At the lower settings, it uses the resistor which lowers the amperage; thereby, slowing the motor down.

It totally makes since , How could I check if my resistor is faulty . Couldn't I check that out with a multi-meter ? The resistor cost 85$ so I want to make sure thats the problem before purchasing another one , on my resistor invoice it says that electronic parts are non refoundable .

Thanks .

You can test it; but, try bringing the part back for an exchange.

Non-refundable is not the same as returning a faulty part for a parts exchange. You may have other legal rights too for exchange.

Here are the instructions to test the blower motor transistor (see attached image).
