Accord Electrical problems
First I would like to thank anyone in advance that maybe able to help. I have a '06 Accord EX with the 4 cylinder engine, auto trans. The car has about 40K miles. For about the last 6 months as we are driving alone the dash lights, radio, a/c or heat what ever is on at the time all of this will just go off and come back on. This may happen 2 times or 12 times in a day and then it will not happen again for a day or for 6 weeks. When this happens the car keeps running like everything is fine. Only once has the car killed when this happened. Today when my wife went to leave the house the car would not start. When she tried to turn the key back to take the key out it would not turn back enough to take the key out. At lunch I went home to check on the car thinking the battery might be bad the car would not start for me or I still could not get the key out. At this time I tried shifting the car to nuteral and when I did I was able to start the car. Once it was running I turned the car off and I was able to remove the key. Tr4ied starting it again and everything works fine. Anyone has any Ideas or has anyone seen any of these problems? Thanks for your help.
Your symptoms suggest a faulty keyswitch assembly. The contacts become loose/melted/damaged and you get intermittent contact causing all sorts of problems including sudden dieing of engine.
On earlier model Accords, this was a very straightforward replacement of an electrical switch assembly that was mechanically linked to the key lock assembly. On the 2003-2007 Accords, the process may require replacement of entire key lcok and electrical switch assembly. I say may because after reading the manual for some time I was still in the dark. Perhaps for security reassons, this repair has been obscured.
good luck

One test you can try is to shake the key while the car is running. If the car stalls, then you pretty much verified a bad electrical portion of the ignition switch. If it doesn't stall, then you still can't rule out the ignition switch.
I would have the PCM scanned for error codes. Most parts stores will do this free of charge. Post the actual code here. It will start with the letter P and have four numbers, like P1234. While you are there, they can test the battery, starter, and alternator.
One other thing you can do is to clean and tighten all ends of both battery cables. A loose/corroded cable could lose contact and cut off power momentarily to the car.
