Default Accord Transmission Cooler

I
I have a question/concern on my 2004 Accord LE 3.0 transmission.

First about me, so I can qualify I understand transmissions. I spent 6 years at a local Chrysler dealership as a transmission specialist. I rebuilt my daughters 2003 MDX transmission; it was fun and working fine for over 6 months now. Several clutch packs were burnt or completely worn out. I added an external cooler and filter to her vehicle.

My issue, I want to install an external cooler to my accord. I find no hoses to the radiator. For cooling the transmission fluid Honda placed a heat exchanger on top of the transmission (under the throttle body area) with engine coolant lines going to and from it. Picture included. I don’t think this is enough cooling.

Do you believe it is ok as is or is there an adapter to replace the heat exchanger? It is bolted and sealed to the transmission housing, transmission fluid transfers through the exchanger directly from the Trans.

Thanks,

KLZ

What is a Honda Accord LE? Can't say I've ever heard of one of those.

Here in the U.S. the 5-Speed auto installed in the Gen7 V6 models was rather problematic; the most reliable unit was the BAYA unit from the 2006-2007 V6 Accord models.

1. The Accord is probably a V6 LX.

2. There was a recall for some of the earlier 2004 Accord V6 to install an oil jet kit due to certain operating conditions that can result in heat buildup between the countershaft and secondary shaft 2nd gears in the A/T.

See post # 6 in this other thread: https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...52/#post304321

3. If you want to install a cooler, refer to this: driveaccord.net/forums/15-7th-generation/397890-diy-v6-transmission-cooler-install.html
