Default accord type r distributor replacement timing?

Hi ive recently purchased another distributor for my 99 accord type r, just wondering whether I will need a strobe to set it up? Or is it fixed? Cheers, Mario

Where are you located? Type-R isn't a USA car, so there might be some differences.

USA Accords timing is controlled by a sensor at the crankshaft pulley, and the distributor mounting doesn't have any slots in the mounting holes. Even if you were to grind out those mounting holes, elongating them into slots for adjustment, it won't change the actual spark timing.

In England, for example, the saloon cars (built in Swindon) are completely different cars from USA sedans. But the coupes (2-door) are the same as USA. So it helps to know what kind of car you're talking about.

I think(?) UK is the same, so if you have a timing light you can CHECK the spark timing. But you can't adjust it.
