Adjusting the timing

Not sure what you are needing...it is early for me.
Timing can be adjusted slighly using the distributor, be sure to follow the proper procedure.
IF you think the belt is off a tooth (or more) then the only way to check is by pulling the upper cover (not really that hard to pull just the upper part - 2 maybe 3 screws?). Frm there set cyl#1 to TDC and check the marks.

On 94 Accord igntion timing is adjusted w/ engine idling, service check connector shorted, and setting red timing mark (loosen distributor bolts and adjust distributor) on crankshaft pulley to align w/ pointer on lower timing belt cover.
Perform engine timing check as PM indicated.

If you mark the distributor-bracket position w/ black mark, you can return to same position and avoid tiiming adjustment.
I'm not sure if 97 requires any adjustment as the timing is completely controlled by ECM w/ separate TDC sensor.
