Default Advance the ignition timing?

Mazda Miata drivers are often advised to advance the timing by about ten degrees. In my case, my 1991 Miata has greatly benefited from this step by increased acceleration and power.

Is advancing the timing by a few degrees also recommended for Honda Accords? In my case that would be a 1992 2.2 engine with a five speed manual.

Would appreciate your help.

advancing the timing on an engine can increase your power however sometimes it will decrease the gas mileage (not always) and often times it will make starting the car more difficult especially in cold weather. When I was in the pits helping my buddy with his 4 cyl race car we would advance the timing as far as humanly possible (and still have it start ok)...

Long and short of it: you could probably gain some power by advancing your timing but I don't know what possible issues you're going to encounter because of it.

Did your Miata have the protection of having a knock sensor. Your Accord doesn't. So it can't back the timing off when it starts to knock. Be careful, 10 degrees may get you in trouble.
