Default Alternator belt tightening problem (1992 Accord)

Hi there!
So, I have had some issues with noise from what seems like the alternator belt during cold mornings. Went through the manual on how to adjust the alternator belt, but as the alternator was stuck, hitting the alternator nut (trying to make the alternator moveable) made the bracket around it from the adjusting bolt come off. I think I managed to get it back on as it should be.

So with the through bolt loose, and the alternator nut loose, I pul the alternator up by force, then tightening the alternator nut. Now as I try to tighten the adjusting bolt, the alternator wont move as expected, the bolt just spinning.

Is this the way to tighten the alternator belt or should it be done some other way??.

The alternator bracket shouldn't just come off unless you completely removed the three bolts securing it. The adjusting bolt will seem to spin in place, but it should slowly pivot the altenrator to tension the belt.

Maybe watch a few youtube videos on changing the belt on a 92 accord to see if you are missing something .

Well, just had to check if there was something odd with the bracket part as the bolt was very hard to screw without tools, and it did not look quite what expected. Not sure what happened or whenever it did but I guess it should possibly be replaced? If there are any spareparts so to say...

You may need to get one from a junkyard, as those brackets rarely break.

I seriously wish I knew how that could have happen. As I tried to level it out with a vise and with a polygrip tool but would not buldge.

I had a friend's friend (mechanic) replace the timing belt a few years ago, unless something might have happend during the replacement when trying to make the bolts come loose I have no clue what might have caused it...

The through bolts are tightened, but can't tighten the belt any more than it is, which I wish I could. The adjustment bolt however cant be tightened more than a few turns before it jumps out of the thread and become loose again. I hope this wont affect the belt if it might become loose from driving. Finding a spare is not that easy as there are not as many junk cars around here unfortunately... My wiper fluid reservoir was damaged after an accident and finding a replacement that fits behind the bumper is not that easy either. (Still looking so to say)
