RE: am radio reception
Aircraft radar transmits & receives. Doesn't need a transmitter somewhere on the ground.
I'm sure there were a lot of transmitting antennas on top of the WTC. When they're destroyed, the remaining AM signal (from other sources)would be weaker. But still, why would it be OK in your 2004 Accord? And come on... this happened in 2001?? When they configured the radio in your 2008 Accord,it shouldn't have beena big surprise that the WTC was gone.

RE: am radio reception
I wonder if the problem is unique to your '08 Accord. I purchased a '06 EXL earlier this year and have only driven it 3,000 miles in 6 months; i.e. sporadically. I used the AM radio the other day for the first time and noticed that the reception was very weak; worse than any car I can remember.
Have you persued this beyond the initial conversation with the dealer. Just curious what route you're taken and any success towards resolution. BTW, my car doesn't have the Nav system.
