Default Audio-HVAC Display Module is out.

2003 Accord. Was covered by the 04-027 bulletin, but it just went out yesterday and car has 90K miles on it.
Audio-HVAC Display Module Is Dim or Dark
(Supersedes Bulletin 04-027, dated June 15, 2004)

Should I just consider myself lucky that it lasted this long?

Should I even try asking for "Goodwill consideration"
Out of warranty:
Any repair performed after warranty
expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by
the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone
Office. You must request consideration, and get a

decision, before starting work.

Annoying not seeing settings etc, but radio works etc. Any words of wisdom?

You may have to search the web a bit, but I think there is a circuit board you can replace in the unit that would fix this problem. This might just be for the Acura TSX.

If you don't want to DIY, you might as the dealership for a goodwill repair. All they can say is no.
