Automatic Transmission Fluid cost
I just bought some trans fluid from the Honda dealership at $6.07 is this stuff liquid gold? I can't understand why it's 3x the cost of regular store bought fluid. Is it really worth it?
I didn't know it cost that much but yes, using honda tranny fluid vs. straight ATF is a good idea, you could use the cheap stuff, after all it is just your transmission... *L* basically, yes, whenever possible always use honda OEM fluids (except any oil you want to use as long as it's reputable is usually fine) and that will ensure the longest motor life..

Try http://www.bernardiparts.com/. I got it there for $4.65/qt. They ship from Massachusetts, but its worth the shipping cost if you buya few things. I live in NJ and got it the next day. They also have a great deal on oil filters.
WheelBroker, I have never seen Honda ATF anywhere besides the dealer. Not Checker, AutoZone, Napa, Carquest.... Also, if you think about how often you have to change ATF and the cost per change... it's really not that expensive. $18 for 3 quarts over 1 year? I pay more for a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 filter every 3k.
