bad gas milage

Its rare to hear a complaint about felpro gaskets. I used one on my 95 EX valve cover and don't remember having any problems with it.
I guess, when in doubt, go with the honda parts. Some of their parts are about the same price as aftermarket. Some are way too expensive compared to aftermarket, IMO.

I changed:
Air Filter
Rotor
Cap
Wires
Plugs
Fuel Filter
I'm still getting around 18mpg. I also have a rather rough idle, I adjusted the low speed idle valve? (I think thats the right name). I no longer have a surging idle, but it drops fairly low around 200 then catches it self and comes up to 600-800 range.
What should be my most logical next steps?
(BTW fal pro fit fine, not leaking any oil from the valve cover anymore)

Don't know where you live, but if there's an emissions check place nearby you can get them to run an exhaust test to see if you have an injector/O2 sensor problem. Might you have a vacuum leak? Bad PCV valve? What's your compression like? These are all cheap/free checks that can help pinpoint a problem before you start throwing parts at it. Remember to look for the simplest, cheapest problems first, instead of doing like I do and assume the worst. . .

I would clean the inside of the throttle body and both sides of the throttle plate. Use throttle body cleaner and an old toothbrush.
I would also remove the IACV and clean the screen. It can get plugged up over time with carbon.
I would reset the ECU and TCU by pulling the 7.5 amp backup/radio fuse in the engine bay fuse box for a minute. Start the car when cold and allow it idle and reach operating temperature.
I would set the base idle the proper way. In the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum, there is a link to setting the base idle. You may want to check for engine and transmission codes as well. That common diy thread has a link for checking codes.

If you've never replaced the O2 sensor, it should be on your maintenance list. This has major effect on fuel efficiency and can degrade before setting CEL on. Denso part (I think OEM) is available for about $35.
