Default Battery dying

The other day my car wouldn’t start. I got a jump and it turned on right away. I left it on for a while to charge up. The next day I turn it on and it works fine, then later in the day I turn it on again and as I put my car in drive it dies completely, No lights on at all. But then I take the key out and wait a couple of minutes and then the lights come on out of nowhere and then the car starts up. After driving it for a while it dies out again like before and once again I wait a couple of minutes and then it turns on again. I get to where I wanna go but then a couple hours later I start the car up with no problem but when I hit the defrost button by mistake it dies again for like two minutes and then comes back on.

What could the problem be? At first I was thinking it an alternator but it doesn’t make sense that the car dies out and out of nowhere has power

Any recent work done on your car?

Does your car have the original Honda clamps on the battery terminals? I'd probably disconnect the battery and clean all ends you can access. Use a wire brush or sandpaper to ensure you have good connections. Use a socket to tighten the battery terminals, because I had loose connections when using an open end/boxed end wrench to tighten them.

Another test to try is to shake the key while the car is running to see if you can get it to stall.

Thank you, I’ll try those things. Not only does the car stall but everything goes completely out. No lights at all in the car.
