The battery light keeps coming on and off on my 97 accord. It comes on if I'm in drive and I'm not giving it gas but when I give it gas it goes off. It stays on when in park. I just got a new battery a few weeks ago. Is this the sign of a bad alternator?

 

easiest thing to do is take it to an Autozone or Advance auto and they will test your charging system for free.

 

There's the possibility the voltage regulator inside your alternator is starting to go bad. A local rebuild professional should be able to replace it easily as well as replace the brushes if needed. Sometimes bench testing wont reveal an intermittent problem especially if it only occurs as temps rise inside the alternator. Same thing happened with my 96.
