Default Bet ya you haven't seen this timing belt problem!

Well I am actually hoping that someone has seen this timing belt issue before. The new timing belt and balance belt have been installed on a 1995Honda Accord EX(2.2 liter with a 5speed),the motor is running like a champ. The issue is that the timing belt is shifting foward on the pulley (shifting toward the drivers side) when the motor is running and hitting the timing belt cover. Has anyone ever seen this?

tensioner pulley tight enough? Or the tensioner bearings are shot?

I'll give that a try when I get home... I hope that solves it cause this Accord is kicking my butt! Thanks for the quick reply

What's it like down at the crankshaft pulley? Perhaps that little dished washer (#19) or maybe the other crankshaft sprocket (#15) is backwards?

another thing you might want to check besides what Jim nd Dude mentioned..

on the t-belt tensioner some people install a 10mm bolt ,, where there is no need to,, if they install the bolt the tensioner will not be able to properly put enough tension on the t-belt because it is tight and cannot pivot to adjust tension,, I have seen this numerous times mostly when non honda techs ( not familiar with Hondas ) do the job,, and to them looks like that there is a bolt missing so they install one ..

Deserthonda what do you mean? im in the middle of replacing the timing belt, balance shaft belt, cam seal, crank seal, balance shaft seal, water pump, and putting the balance shaft seal retainer on the engine going into my car. the timing belt cover on the engine as I got it is worn through from the belt rubbing it, maybe I need to be looking for what caused this? oh the kit also came with new belt tensioners

Thank guys! I am starting to think that the tensioner pullies are bad because it is the one thing that the original mechanic (the one that messed everthing up) didn't replace and when I removed the lower cover the rear pulley arm (where the spring attaches) was all jammed under the spring because the mechanic didn't hook the spring in the proper spot. Just a quick question. If the tensioner pullies are bad would they make noise similar to when other bearing go bad or would they just no longer sit flush?

Crazyguy, I think what deserthonda is refering to is when you are going through the tension sequence you have to use a spare 10mm bolt to lock the rear timing belt tensioner pulley in place. Then you adjust the balance shafttensioner pulley. Once you are done with that you remover the bolt so the springs can do there job, adjusting the tension over time compensating for the stretching and vibration of the belt.
