Default Brake issue

Hi, I have a '94 Accord 4 dr. Auto w/o ABS. Every once in a while, after the car has been sitting over night, when I start out and try to stop for the first time, the brake pedal is very mushy and does not want to stop the car. After it gets used a few times, it's fine, and it doesn't happen every time. There are no visible leaks and I was thinking if it was the Master Cylinder, wouldn't it do it all the time? Any suggestions on what to try?

(My son is taking his driving test today so I thought I should make sure the car is functioning properly... )

Thanks- Dshow

Thanks for the response. Can you just replace the master cylinder seals or is it best just to replace the whole thing?

Thanks-
