Default brake lamp always on when driving

hi, i am a regular friend in this forum, i am using accord 98, 4cyl, auto trans., three days ago i notice that the brake lamp doesn't goes off when driving. I check brake fluid is ok to normal capacity. All seems ok when driving except the brake lamp light is on. What might be the probable cause?. We had the engine oil and filter changed last week. The brake pads are all new. I wil appreciate you response to this problem. Honda are great cars. THANKS

Brake lamp can be turned on by e-brake switch and low fluid switch.

First unplug the low fluid switch on the brake fluid reservoir cap. If brake light goes off, likely a bad switch. In some cases a pressure differential on the reservoir screen insert can cause this problem. Notching the screen lower flap (small v-notches on opposite sides) will remove any pressure differential causing this problem.

If above doesn't fix problem, try unplugging the e-brake switch in console. It may be misadjusted or shorted. Again, if unplugging the switch cuts light off, you've found problem.

good luck

There are actually 2 lights on the dash for brakes,
1 in the upper right is the brake system needs attention.
1 lower down in the picto-gram of the car (the one with the open door indicators) tells you you have a bulb out.

Some people have had to replace both side brake light bulbs just so they match each other. The sensor for failed bulbs seems to work on the wattage from side to side.
