i have a 2000 accord lx 4cyl auto and my brake lamp light is on. the last time it was on, one of my brake lights were out. i replaced the blown bulb and the lamp light turned off. now, it is back on but none of my lights are out. i checked the corners, license plate, and the regular brake lights. is there something im missing, or is something actually wrong? thanks in advance.

If all of your bulbs are ok, then the cause can be from two sources:

1. The brake fluid in the reservoir is low or the float mechanism is screwed up.

2. The emergency brake sensor is stuck/messed up.

You can download a 6th gen accord shop manual from the online manuals thread in the DIY section. That should help out a lot.

 

Well the newer system [post 98] is a little finicky on it's ground side measurements.
First thing I do is remove the bulbs and give them a hard 'flick' with my fingernail and watch the filament for possible seperation.
Some times the filament is broken yet touching and that changes the bulb resistance.
However I've seen a few that were only 'fixed' by installing all the bulbs with the same brand bulb.
The connection points of the bulbs need to be clean and secure as well.

 

Yeah, that warning is based on matching wattage among the bulbs. So mismatched bulbs (old vs. new?) can sometimes set it off. Or corrosion in the bulb sockets.
