I just recently converted my 89 honda to LED tail lights but when i step on the brake the Brake Lamp light came on... any way to keep it from coming on? I put the original bulbs back in and now its off. Does it have anything to do with the resistance in the bulbs?

You'll need to figure out how to let the "failure sensor" know the bulbs are good....if that makes sense. I've never changed any of mine to LED's so I don't have any advise but there has to be something online for doing this on Honda's....don't be afraid of trying what works on the newer ones - I'd guess anything up to 2006 should work on the 89

 

It has everything to do with the resistance of the bulbs. The bulb-failure sensor basically measures the wattage of the bulbs, and it can see that the LED are drawing next to nothing in power.

 

Get load resistors if you want the LEDs. Walmart, auto parts stores, etc. have load resistors next to the LED bulbs for cars.
