Default Brake Light help

I have a 2001 Accord LX, and just today on my dash panel the trunk brake light thing lit up suddenly. The rear window brake light is still working as is the passenger side brake light, but the others are not---

is this a fuse situation or bulb? How do I know for sure?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Pretty sure it is the bulb. Cheap test, switch the bulbs, from the side that is working to the one that is not. They are pretty cheap, and will give out one day, so buy some new ones and try that if you don't want to switch them....I have all kinds of spare bulbs in the glove box for this very thing.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. There are "other possible" things but we'd want to start with this.

another quick question regarding the brake bulbs---does a bad bulb always have a broken filament?

Yes, but the 'break' in the filament is not always easy to see without a microscope.
