Default Brake light monitor for Hand Brake help?

Hello techs

can someone help me with this problem. I have a 98 accord v4 automatic. the hand brake light monitor is on intermitantly and now is just on. this is not the light for the lights in the back. does anyone know why or what is causing this to happen? I am now sure if these car have sensors that tell if the brake pads are low, if they do, is this why the light is on?

any comments is apprecitated

thanks

Have you checked the brake fluid, it's probably low.

The switch & its bracket (down at the brake lever) are kinda flimsy. Check whether the handbrake lever actually pushes down on the button of the switch. If not, bend it. Or maybe the switch is broken? You'll have to take apart the console...

you need to replace the brake master cylinder cap ,,,,it has a float in there and they go bad a lot,,

try something,, play with the float on the master cylindr cap,, move it up and dpwn manually then try to see if lite is off.. if so you need a new cap

DO NOT do anything with the switch yet,,,,,,,,,do as i adviced you with the master cylinder reservoir cap..I have seen it many times . the float sticks and it acts as if it is out of fluid , flat does not raise up ,,if that is not the problem then look at the switch

I have seen dozen of caps go bad,, haredly any switches ,,,,,,,,,,,,,i will be very very surprised if it is the switch at the lever

ur on the money! it was the cap! the light came on again when i start the car today, so i open the hood and remove the cap and reinstall it and the light went away. i got to go see how much the dealer charge and see if i can get this on ebay.

thanks again for the advice !!!

Check that funny screen/basket inside the fluid reservoir. Just in case it's warped & brushing against the float, it may be real simple like that.
