I HAVE A 2005 ACCORD LX 28,850 MILES WITH FRONT DISK/REAR DRUM BRAKES....MY PROBLEM IS SEVERE VIBRATIONS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN PRESSED AND TOO LONG OF A STOPPING DISTANCE....AT ANY SPEED INCLUDING UNDER 10MPH......MY BRAKE PADS ARE GOOD ALL AROUND AND TIRES ARE FINE.

 

Warped rotors. Either have them resurfaced or have new ones put on. or upgrade to a high performance rotor like Brembo.
It seems early warped rotors are becoming a recurring issue on the 7th gen accords.

 

x2 ..... warped rotors ..... at 28,850 ..... dayum!!!!! Brembo blanks for $40 a piece are the best bet. I think that the rotors are covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles though --- they will tell you that wear and tear is not covered ..... that's when you tell them that pads are wear and tear, not rotors.

 

x2 on 3 years 36k miles. The dealer should replace for free.

 

Shuddering through brake pedal and poor stopping performance may also indicate the brakes are glazed w/ brake pad material. This can cause the same symptoms as excess rotor runout. You might try cleaning and roughing the rotors w/ 100 grit sandpaper on an orbital sander or by hand.

Glazing can cause pulsing? It makes sense, but I never heard of that.

 

The glazing can get non-uniform over the rotor, so some parts are more slippery than others. Usually that comes from clamping down the brakes (like at a stoplight) when they're real hot. Look around for 'bedding in' the brakes, I've described it a few times.

 

rotors are wear and tear items, the warranty is 12months/12,000 miles.

severe brake pedal pulsation without steering wheel shaking? rotors don't just warp up out of the blue, you have to have abused them for it to get very bad this early.

who said your brake pad thickness is ok? what is the measurement?
