Default Brake sensor/won't start

I will attempt to be as descript as possible...please don't hammer me for missing something, there is a difference between being ignorant and being stupid! I am ignorant with regards to this issue. My son bought a 99 Honda Accord which was experiencing issues shifting out of park. Replace the brake sensor...easy, right? It would start fine but the brake lights would not consistantly come on and it would take a few tries to shift out of park. While waiting for the new sensor to arrive, we pulled the old one, cleaned it and placed it back in. Before attaching the electrical, we attempted to start the car...nothing but a couple clicks under the dash and the hood. Thought it was worth a try in an attempt to bypass the issue, didn't work. So, plugged it in and got the same thing, a couple clicks under the dash and under the hood. Figured we would wait for the new sensor and hoped that would fix the issue. After installing the new one, we are still experiencing the same thing with the start. I had read that if an SMS or any related components had been unplugged and the key switched on we should reset that system. We followed the directions and reset the SMS and still nothing.

Trying to ensure all the details are there, the car did start before unplugging and cleaning the old sensor and won't even turn over (just a couple clicks like switches engaging) when attempting to start since.

Is there another reset or am I facing a toatally unrelated issue?

Welcome to HAF - no worries here about getting "hammered", we don't play that way

Be sure the fuses are good, might have blown one while messing with the switch.

Next, can you check for voltage on the small wire (BLK/WHT I think) going to the starter solenoid when the key is turned to the start position.

I forgot to mention... I checked the fuses and when I attempt to start, the headlights don't dim in the slightest. We also attempted to jump, just in case. I will check the starter wire in the morning. Thank-you
