Burning Oil/Rubber Smell
The 93 Wagon EX
For a while, since late september really, my car has been emitting a terrible burning stench. Generally, it isn't too bad, showing up once in a while, not being too bad, whatever.
However, today, I noticed that 1) The smell was now ever-present, 2) There was a haze in the cabin, 3) I'm really sick of my car smelling really bad, it's a turnoff, dontcherknow
Ideas on what it could be?
NB: When I replaced my ultra-worn Spark PLugs (The gaps were worn down far past recognition, I don't know how the car drove at all) with performance plugs, my uncle (who was replacing the plugs after fixing the brake-light/ sensor on the brake) noticed that all the old plugs were soaked in oil. He said one of them gaskets or rings or something like that had disintegrated, and that oil was in the pistons, or what not. The replacement was in september, and the smell wasn't too bad. Nor does my car really guzzle oil, but I feel like this info may be important in "diagnosis"
Again, Ideas?

I have to ask a few more detailed questions.
Fumes getting into the cabin means that oil is burning from a leak somewhere. Is there any smoke coming out of the exhaust? Is there any oil dripping on the ground after it is parked? Do you see any oil on the engine block (front or back)? Are you using a lot of oil?
If you start the car and let it run, can you see smoke coming from anywhere?
When you replaced the spark plugs, was the oil on the outside (where the plug wire goes in) or on the spark plug itself (past the threads)?
You can avoid having a smoky haze in your cabin, by turning on the recirculation switch, so no outside air will enter.

I don't remember what the problem was, but it seems to have gone away.
I do know that early March my oil gasket blew and squirted oil all over my drive way and school parking lot. I drove it to school after refilling the oil, but as I was checking for engine lights, I had my dad finish the job. Unfortunately, he forgot to install the oil cap. Smoke was everywhere! That was embarrassing. But, since having all that dealt with, the smells in the car seemed to have disappeared. I'm not totally sure though, because I sold it about 3 weeks ago.
Thanks for the reply though!
