Default A/C compressor cycling

Compressor keeps cycling on and off. Checked and system appears charged. Checked with gauge that comes on can of 134. It's a 92 accord and I had it converted three years ago. Any suggestions

On/off cycling is normal on most all compressors. Unless it's happening way too fast. What are the cycle times?

It will run for about ten seconds then shut off for about twenty seconds.

That's a little too much. Has it had any a/c work done recently? Are both the cooling fans running?

Both cooling fans run when compressor kicks on. Only work done was three years ago I had it converted to R134.

what is the ambient temperature ??? if it is cool outside the compressor will run for a very short time,, but still ,,it should be off a bit more than 20 seconds

Fast cycling can be from being over-charged, right? How was the skill-level of the shop that did the conversion?

Did they manage to remove all the old oil? Compressor oil for R-12 isn't compatible with the R-134a.

Did they know the amount to charge? I think R-134a wants to use less refrigerant. Also charges to different pressures?

The ambient temp was about 55 degrees. I thought this might have something to do with it. The guy that did the conversion is experienced and it has worked fine. It is still working fine it's just that I noticed the compressor cycling alot. I guess your right maybe the quick cycling has to do with the outside temp being on the cool side. Thanks to everyone for their help
