Hi,

it happens to me about twice a week at random times that I can't start the car. I put the key into position 1, everything is ok, then when I turn it to start the engine everything shuts down or starts blinking on the dashboard. Then I put it back in positon 0 (or take the key out) and try again, same thing happens.
I do this for a random amount of times until it actually starts working fine.

Yesterday I went to Honda to get another problem looked at and first thing they did when I pulled in is they popped up the hood and checked the battery. They said it is bad and needs to be changed, so I thought yay, this will fix my problem. Well how wrong I was.

Today in total darkness, during heavy rain my car wouldn't start!!!
Luckily after about 40 tries it started working.

Can somebody help? I don't want to pay $80 for diagnostics at Honda for this issue :/

Have you checked your battery cables? Look for dirty/loose/corroded connections at both ends of both cables.

 

hmm so perhaps I should change those.. is it difficult to do?

 

seems like this is fixed - it was a defective battery from Honda.
They swapped it for free.

 

Awesome. Unusual, but not impossible to have a bad battery right out of the box. Good for them - they didn't deny or blame something else for the problem.
