Default Catalytic Converter replace?

1995 Honda Accord LX 2.7L

is it recommended on such an old car to put a new CAT? pros? cons? and if its recommended, without breaking the bank, what brand of CAT is recommended?

I currently have a Vibrant muffler on the car which sounds great, and the rest of the exhaust is all original.

thanks folks!

The 95 accord was OBD2, so it should have a secondary O2 sensor monitoring the catalytic converter performance. If you are not getting a P0420 code or loss of power with a clogged catalytic converter or a rusted hole through the converter, then don't replace. The OEM Honda converters are better quality than aftermarket IMHO.

its it safe to assume after 28 years its a good idea to put a new Cat on the car, is it safe to assume it must be clogged and corroded after 28 years, especially from the Florida heat its entire life,

I never had to replace a catalytic converter on my accords. It isn't safe to assume the converter is clogged after 28 years, because you'd know if you were driving on a clogged converter. The corrosion I mentioned was more on the outside where you'd eventually have a rust hole. This might happen in the north with the salt on the roads, but would also be rare. Don't replace the converter unless you start getting something like a P0420 code or severe power loss due to a clogged converter.
