Central Locking

Central Locking
I have a 96 Accord with power door locks. When I turn the car off, open the drivers door and press the inside drivers door lock, the lock pops back up ...is this suppose to work this way ?
The key will lock all the doors and the inside drivers door lock will lock and unlock all the doors if I am in the car with the doors closed.
Seems like the business of the drivers door lock poping back up when you try to lock with the drivers door inside switch ( with the door is open ) is some sort of safety mechanism to ensure that you really have the ignition key ....just wondering if this is normal.
Thanks

The door is made to be locked by the key from the outside to prevent you from looking your keys inside. You can pull the inside door handle with the door open and than lock and close the door to by pass this.
