Default Changing my oil for the first time!

So ive always had my oil changed at a local shop...but i figured i would go again and give it a shot and start changing my own oil. I have a 2006 Accord 2.4 with 110,000 miles, i was wondering how often i should change the oil....I do basically all short trip driving, usually i drive about 4, 3 miles trips back and forth to school 4 times per week and 4 , 2 miles trips to work 3 times per week. So basically i start my car about 30 times per week and it only gets driven max 3 miles each start. So LOTS of short trips. I know this is the worst driving you can do, so i would like to know how often to change oil to be safe??? ive been changing it every 3 months/3000 miles. I know everyone says thats so early, i know the oil lubricates well past that...BUT, i want to get all the water/fuel build up out.

Read posting rules and don't post in DIY forum.

I believe your Accord has an oil change reminder that accounts for your driving habits. It will usually work out to be 7000-8000 miles unless time restraint (?) causes a reminder.

good luck

I suspect your driving constitutes severe service; probably the oil never reaches full operating temp.
So your current servicing interval sounds good to me.

Even if you keep your same oil-change schedule, it would be interesting to know what the oil-life percentage is reading. I have a hunch that you're changing it too often. OTOH, it doesn't hurt the CAR to change it more often - just extra cost.
